To build yourself up on your most holy faith, praying in tongues, means subjecting your mind to the will and purpose of God –– #ProsperAnangQuotes
I’ve said this before that THE MEASURE of faith which you received from God when you got born again is a fully grown and complete faith. It doesn’t need to grow, because it’s already fully grown. It doesn’t need to be stronger because it’s the fullness of God’s strength. That’s why it doesn’t know anything called an impossibility. When it comes to maximally exploring its supernatural potentials, it’s you who need to grow in it.
To spend time thinking about how to grow THE MEASURE of faith is like wasting your precious time to focus on doing the wrong thing.
As a matter of fact, I found out that in people’s attempt to grow their faith, the most misunderstood and misinterpreted scripture in the Bible that they’ve used is Jude 1:20 “…beloved, BUILDING UP YOURSELVES ON YOUR MOST HOLY FAITH, praying in the Holy Ghost”.
Their misunderstanding, and eventually wrong interpretation stemmed from the fact that they misquoted the verse. Take a look at how they’ve been quoting it: “…beloved, BUILDING UP YOUR MOST HOLY FAITH, praying in the Holy Ghost”.
Quoting this verse like this will definitely lead to misunderstanding and wrong interpretation. You see you need to pay close attention here: Jude didn’t say “…building up your faith”; rather, what he says is “…building up YOURSELVES ON your most holy faith…”
Now take a look at the exact words of Jude: “…beloved, building up YOURSELVES on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost”.
Did you see that? What you build is YOURSELF, not your faith because your faith doesn’t need building. There’s nothing you can do about THE MEASURE of faith in your born again spirit in the sense of increasing or making it bigger and stronger. It’s complete already. Besides, it’s not your responsibility to do that even if there was anything like that. It’s yourself – your mental capacity that has to be built, and you do that ON your most holy faith – THE MEASURE of faith.
The Greek word for BUILDING UP is [epoikodomeō], and it means TO BUILD UPON. This speaks of REARING UP life ON THE MEASURE of faith, given that with the measure of faith, you can do anything. THE MEASURE of faith places you on a platform of unlimited possibilities. That’s where God lives. That’s why Jesus said of Him that “…with God all things are possible”.
If you were to build a house, the first thing you’d do after the architectural design is to dig the ground in order to lay its foundation. And once that was done, the next stage would be to erect the walls according to the plan. Once you’re done with the construction, people wouldn’t see the foundation of your house, in spite of the fact that they admire the building.
That’s how it is with your faith. It’s the supernatural foundation for everything you’re designed to be in Christ. From what Jude said, you’re expected to erect or build your life ON that faith foundation not to waste your time to build it [the faith foundation] because there’s absolutely nothing you can do about that.
To build yourself up on your most holy faith, praying in tongues, means subjecting your mind to the will and purpose of God. When you pray in tongues, it’s not your spirit that’s edified, it’s your mind because praying in tongues subjects it to the will and purpose of God.
Your born again spirit already lives in the plan, purpose and perfect will of God, but your mind doesn’t. Building yourself up on your most holy faith by praying in tongues will help your mind to be aligned with God’s plan, purpose and perfect will for you.
I’d like to show you how that happens: James tells us that “…and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [TO A SPIRITUAL TONE OF MIND AND HEART] The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” [James 5:16, AMPC].
Here, James tells us exactly why we should pray for one another – for restoration to a spiritual tone of mind. What James implied here was that one of the highest purposes of prayer is for the realignment of people’s mind to His plan, purpose and perfect will. That’s what “restoration to a spiritual tone of mind” means.
Whenever such prayer is made effectively, the outcome is that there’ll be a release of tremendous power that’ll overshadow the mind, thus helping it supernaturally to be aligned with God’s plan, purpose and perfect will for the individual concerned: “…the earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” [James 5:16, AMPC].
Once your mind gets to that point of submission to the plan, purpose and perfect will of God while you’re praying in tongues, it’ll begin to receive specific information regarding different issues that need to be addressed. At that point, it’ll become easier to know and accept the will of God. As soon as that agreement is established, anything is possible. That’s how you build yourself up ON your most holy faith, praying in tongues always.
This is exactly what Peter said in 2 Peter 1:5-7 “5And beside this, giving all diligence, ADD TO YOUR FAITH virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity”.
The Greek transliteration for ADD in this verse is [epichorēgeō], which means TO FURNISH, FULLY SUPPLY, AID OR CONTRIBUTE.
This is how you build yourself up ON your most holy faith when you pray in tongues. Praying in tongues subjects your mind to the plan, purpose and perfect will of God for your life, and then furnishes your faith with knowledge, patience, self-control, kindness and love, which eventually serve as a spiritual environment for the maximum operation of your faith.
These virtues are like furniture in your living room. They bring out the beauty of your living room without necessarily increasing its size. That’s how THE MEASURE of faith in your born again spirit is. It can’t be increased, but when properly furnished by building your mind [yourself] up through knowledge, patience, self-control, kindness and love, it can accomplish great, big, and enormous things.
So when Jude talks about building up yourself on your most holy faith, he’s referring to developing mental capacity to accommodate THE MEASURE faith in its entirety. There’s a kind of mental environment that’ll deaden the efficacy of your faith, it’s a mental environment that’s void of virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.
Here’s what Peter said about this: “For whoever lacks these qualities is blind, [spiritually] shortsighted, seeing only what is near to him, and has become oblivious [to the fact] that he was cleansed from his old sins” [2 Peter 1:9, AMPC].
The point I want you to catch up with is that even though faith isn’t in your mind, yet, your mind plays an indispensable role for its efficacy. If your mind doesn’t play its role, your faith will produce nothing. The part that your mind plays is to develop its capacity, just as Peter said. Once this mental capacity isn’t developed to accommodate faith, you’ll become spiritually, shortsighted and oblivious to the reality of what God has done for in Christ.
